Hi. I’m James. We would like to welcome you to Tandoori Café. We trust that you will enjoy a truly unique and memorable dining experience, while indulging yourself in the fine taste of Indian cuisine.

I'm originally from Northern India, a region that specializes in Punjabi style cooking. I worked as a chef in New Zealand for five years before opening this business, which I have run for the last three years.
We have a passion for good authentic food, which we love to share with our customers.

All our meals at Tandoori Café are cooked from scratch, using the freshest and tastiest ingredients. When you order your food, we make it there and then. We do not serve food that has been sitting in a large pot out the back like some Indian restaurants.Tandoor Villages in North India have traditionally used mud stoves (chulhas) and clay ovens to cook their food. One such oven is the ‘Tandoor’, which is shaped like a barrel and fired by charcoal. At Tandoori we boast one of these traditional coal fires. The food, prepared first in a special marinade, is spiked on long metal rods and then cooked in the ‘Tandoor’ giving the food a delicious distinctive taste. One of our special, unique meals is the Tandoori Chicken, which boasts a rich red colour. It is cooked this way and we only use natural spices on the chicken. There is no artificial colouring, its all natural.

India is a vast country with a rich heritage, as reflected in its various people, cultures and cuisine. Tandoori Café have chosen to present some of the more characteristic, yet legendary dishes from Northern India. These internationally renowned dishes trace their origins from the invading Mughals. We emphasize authenticity. We recommend you try our delicious Lashuni Tiki Garlic flavoured juicy chicken pieces, delicately marinated in the Tandoor oven, or our Chicken Tikka, boneless chicken pieces cooked with mixed vegetables and tomato sauce. Our mouthwatering dishes are complemented with Naan breads and Basmati rice. If you’re after something spicier try our famous hot chicken wings, which are marinated and cooked in our Tandoor oven.

Not only does our food taste delicious its good for you too!
Five thousand years ago, the Himalayan sages conceived the use of spices and herbs as a natural means to balance the metabolism of the body. This became know as Ayurvedic medicine. It is the variety and combination of these herbs and spices that can have benefits for the mind and body. These are the same fresh herbs and spices that we use and prepare fresh in the foods we cook for you. We love Raumati Village and the atmosphere of Raumati Beach and have grown to know our regular customers well. We would like to extend a warm welcome to you to come in and taste the authentic flavour of India at Tandoori Café.
